In WP3, IDOASIS and IPB-CIMO have been receiving samples from
the vegetal material collected in Spain, Germany and Romania during
M9-M32.
The samples received have been subjected to different extraction
methodologies targeted to obtain high value-added compounds,
including maceration, microwave assisted extraction (MAE), ultrasound
assisted extraction (UAE), and surfactant assisted extraction
(SAE). The obtained extracts have been characterized with different
analytical methodologies to analyze the main chemical compounds
present in each species. Some interesting compounds have been
successfully identified in the samples analyzed, mainly phenolic compounds
and triterpenes, suggesting a potential interest in the market.
Optimized extraction processes will be scaled-up with the selected
species during the next period, considering the best phytochemical
profile, bioactivities and yield of extraction.
